Discovery DMA 850: A research quality DMA that provides complete viscoelastic measurements on materials from 1000 Pa to 1000 GPa. The instrument features a newly designed drive mechanism that is optimized for precise, direct control of force or displacement in oscillatory and static modes of operation. An optimized cast aluminum base and stiff composite drive system provide accurate measurements up to 18 N of force while low friction air bearing supports ensure sensitivity to 0.1 mN. The non-contact drive mechanism and linear optical encoder permit deformation amplitudes from 0.0005 to 10 000 μm with resolution of 0.1 nm. The frequency range of operation is 0.001 to 200 Hz. The instrument features the new innovative “app-style” touch screen with One-Touch-Away ™ functionality. The DMA 850 is compatible with the Standard Furnace (P/N: 986012.901) for operation from -160 °C to 600 °C or the DMA-RH Accessory (P/N: 985700.901) for operation with controlled temperature and humidity. Low temperature performance is determined by selection of liquid nitrogen or mechanical cooling accessories. The instrument is designed for easy accessibility to clamps and samples and is compatible with a wide selection of clamping types and sizes optimized for accuracy and ease-of-use. The DMA 850 includes TRIOS software for complete instrument control and data analysis and management. TRIOS provides a new and unique user interface for programming experiments, analyzing data, and managing instrument history. TRIOS comes standard with a comprehensive data analysis package that includes curve fitting, user defined models, and Time-Temperature-Superposition. The system includes an accessory kit containing a 35mm single/dual cantilever bending fixture, digital caliper, steel standards, precision torque driver, 1000 g certified calibration weight, and demonstration materials.
