Description
This course equips educators with the skills to create and evaluate high-quality multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Participants will learn best practices for writing MCQs, avoid common pitfalls, and engage in activities such as designing MCQs, critiquing and improving existing MCQs, incorporating MCQs into learning activities, and discussing their advantages, disadvantages, and value to stakeholders. This course is designed to benefit anyone responsible for question writing and assessment development, regardless of their discipline.
Syllabus, Objectives, and Outcomes
Objectives:
- Develop practical skills for designing MCQs that accurately assess knowledge and skills;
- Evaluate and review the quality of MCQs;
- Understand the advantages and disadvantages of using MCQs;
- Create strategies for improving the design and implementation of MCQs;
- Communicate the value and limitations of MCQs to different stakeholders.
