Description
Study how the human brain acquires, processes, and produces language. Learn about the development of bilingual speakers as well as the effects of specific types of brain damage on language speakers.
Syllabus, Objectives, and Outcomes
Objectives:
You will:
- Identify the guiding principles of linguistic study;
- Identify social and regional factors that influence language variation;
- Identify the cause of attitudes toward language variations;
- Identify your role as a gatekeeper of language;
- Identify factors involved in language acquisition;
- Identify brain mechanisms involved in language formation and processing.
