Meeting Pattern
EDventures will occur throughout the week of June 15 - 18 at various locations throughout the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo region. Students will be expected to provide their own transportation to the various locations that will host industry engagement sessions and to the implementation sessions.
- Gearing Up Sessions: Completed asynchronously online between May 20th and June 10th.
- Industry Engagement Sessions: Throughout the week of June 15-18th within the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo Region. No virtual options are available.
- Implementation Sessions: Discussions and work-shop style sessions focused on integrating industry insights into classroom instruction throughout the week of June 15-18th held at the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo Chamber of Commerce. No virtual options are available.
Description
Bridge the gap between education and industry. Gain direct exposure to local businesses and industries, equipping you with practical insights to enhance classroom instruction and better prepare students for the evolving workforce.
Through hands-on experiences, site visits, and industry engagement, you will gain a deeper understanding of workforce needs, career pathways, and strategies for integrating relevant, real-world learning into your teaching.
This is a collaboration with the Cass County Career and Technical Education Center and the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber.
Syllabus, Objectives, and Outcomes
Objectives:
You will:
- Evaluate the skills and competencies, with a focus on Career Ready Practices, and skills required in various businesses/industries and apply this knowledge to curriculum development and student engagement strategies.
- Demonstrate professional growth by earning personal development credits and integrating industry insights into their teaching practice.
- Develop partnerships, as desired, with local employers and industry leaders to create collaborative opportunities for students, including internships, apprenticeships, and mentorship programs.
- Design instructional strategies that incorporate hands-on, experiential learning to better prepare students for workforce success.
- Reflect on their learning experiences and articulate how industry engagement influences their approach to teaching and student career preparation
Materials:
Technology Access
At a minimum, students must have a computer with internet capabilities, word processing software, ability to engage web browsing/searching throughout the experience (some may find that a smartphone/tablet is easier while engaged in the Industry Engagement sessions).
Supplemental Readings & Information
Supplemental and additional readings, videos, and other materials may be required and will be available through an openly accessible online platform. To meet requirements, and to fully engage in this experience and course, you will also be expected to review other materials and/or informational sites that focus on related topics/areas of interest.
