Meeting Pattern

Description

EduTech offers flexible ways to meet PK-12 schools’ professional development needs via classroom/regional on-site and online workshops. Customized content topics are also offered according to schools’ specific needs and requests.

On-Site Workshops:

Participants receive hands-on training at their school (or via video). There are many topics to choose from covering the latest trends of technology in today’s classrooms. These topics are updated regularly, and online resources are provided to all participants.

Online Workshops:

Participants receive self-paced training which begins on the first day of the month and ends the last day. Online workshops are accessed at blogs.edutech.nodak.edu. Once the participant has requested and received membership to the appropriate workshop group, he/she is contacted by the instructor with instructions on how to proceed with the assignments. All assignments need to be satisfactorily completed and sent to the instructor before a passing grade is given.

Syllabus, Objectives, and Outcomes

Objectives:

Participants will:

  1. Explore the core concepts of an education technology application;
  2. Complete skill development activities related to the application;
  3. Engage in discussions with peers about how the application may be used in a classroom setting;
  4. Implement relevant technologies throughout the curriculum.

Topical Outline:

Eligible training modules can range anywhere from 1 to 32 hours, depending upon the topic and individual school needs. Hours are tracked in EduTech’s training application and stored in NDSU’s Oracle database. A dashboard view is provided for participants to track their personal eligibility status to register for the NDSU professional development credit when at least 15 hours have been accumulated. Topic duplicates are marked as ineligible and hours expire after two years if not used toward professional development credit.
