The Socio/Psycho Linguistics course modules consist of three 1 credit modules that can be taken separately. 

Description

The study of how the human brain acquires, processes, and produces language. Students will learn about the development of bilingual speakers as well as the effects of specific types of brain damage on language speakers.

Syllabus, Objectives, and Outcomes

Objectives:

Students who complete all modules will:

• Identify the guiding principles of linguistic study;
• Identify social and regional factors that influence language variation;
• Identify the cause of attitudes toward language variations;
• Identify their role as gatekeepers of language;
• Identify factors involved in language acquisition;
• Identify brain mechanisms involved in language formation and processing.
