Description
The study of the basic principles that govern the formal study of language. Students will learn how to apply guiding principles to all modules of linguistics. This module includes a review of the modules explored in the Intro to Linguistics - Ed course series.
Syllabus, Objectives, and Outcomes
Objectives:
Students who complete all modules will:
- Identify the guiding principles of linguistic study;
- Identify social and regional factors that influence language variation;
- Identify the cause of attitudes toward language variations;
- Identify their role as gatekeepers of language;
- Identify factors involved in language acquisition;
- Identify brain mechanisms involved in language formation and processing.
