Syllabus, Objectives, and Outcomes

Objectives:

Educators will:

  1. Explain the impact of Artificial Intelligence on education and student learning approaches.
  2. Know how to use ChatGPT and an AI detection software, assessed in the Module 1 Knowledge-To-Action Assignment.
  3. Analyze the potential advantages and limitations of AI tools like ChatGPT within an educational context, measured by their analysis in the Module 1 Knowledge-To-Action Assignment.
  4. Implement strategies to create AI-resistant assignments, fostering critical thinking, evaluated through the adaptation of a personal teaching assignment in the Module 2 Knowledge-To-Action Assignment.
  5. Know how to ethically integrate AI tools into the classroom, demonstrated by the creation of in-class activities in the Module 3 Knowledge-To-Action Assignment.
  6. Utilize AI, specifically ChatGPT and educator-specific AI tools, to enhance teaching efficiency, including optimizing email communication and lesson planning, which is assessed through the Module 4 Knowledge-To-Action Assignment. 
  7. Develop a full teaching unit using AI tools that effectively resist AI shortcuts, ethically incorporate AI, and foster critical thinking in students, as evidenced by the completion of the Full Unit Creation Assignment.
  8. Reflect on the experiences, challenges, insights, and potential improvements in AI integration in education, assessed through written reflections after each assignment and the final unit creation.
