Tuesday & Wednesday, June 6 & 7 {8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.}
Description
The course will be fun and fast paced with many hands-on activities, educators can use in their classrooms, discussion of classroom and curriculum integration, and identification of local resources. North Dakota resources, environment, and wildlife will be emphasized in this workshop. Field trips will be taken to demonstrate the use of natural areas as classrooms. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to experiment with different media including clay, watermedia, pastel, and colored pencil. No previous art experience is required for this workshop. The workshop is suitable for educators teaching K-12.
Syllabus, Objectives, and Outcomes
Objectives:
Students will be able to identify art methods to teach life science concepts. |
- Provide meaningful art experiences by using integrated thematic instruction.
- Teachers completing this course will have a basis for teaching ecological concepts and environmental stewardship to their students through the visual arts.
- Participants will be able to integrate resources into their existing curriculums.
- Participants will develop lessons plans to integrate knowledge acquired in the workshop into their existing curriculum.
- Provide educational experience outside the traditional classroom.
Required Materials:
All instructional materials will be supplied by the ND Game and Fish Department.
