Yee Han Chu

Dr. Yee Han Chu is the Academic Support and Fellowship Opportunities Coordinator at the University of North Dakota. She also serves as the President of the North Dakota Association for Gifted Children and the Secretary for the ND Advisory Committee to the US Commission on Civil Rights.

Dr. Chu earned her BS in genetics and BA in psychology from the University of California, Davis; MSSW in clinical social work from Columbia University; and PhD in teaching and learning-higher education emphasis from the University of North Dakota.

Dr. Chu’s teaching, scholarship and advocacy focusses on the rights and needs of gifted students in K12 and higher education.  She has taught classes in gifted education, special education, child development, and human behavior in the social environment in the Department of Teaching, Leadership and Professional Practice and in the Department of Social Work at UND.  She has presented at national and international conferences about the educational, social justice, and sensory processing needs of gifted students. Her work is published in the Journal of Social Work Education, Journal of Teaching in Social Work, and School Social Work Journal.
