Received his Ph.D. and M.A. in geography from Kansas State University, and his bachelor’s degree in news-editorial journalism from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He joined the UND faculty in 2000. Dr. Rundquist served as chairperson of the UND Department of Geography from 2008-2014 and Director of UND’s Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Science from 2002-2008. His research focuses on the dynamics of land use and land cover change, remote sensing of terrestrial phenology, and ecological applications of remote sensing and GIS. He recently served on the Council of the Association of American Geographers, and he co-edits the scholarly journal Geocarto International. Dr. Rundquist joined the College office in 2015 as an Associate Dean to support the operation of the college. In addition to currently serving as interim chairperson for the departments of American Indian Studies and Philosophy & Religion, Dr. Rundquist is interim director of Interdisciplinary Studies.
