Adnan Akyüz

Dr. Akyüz earned his Ph.D. degree in Atmospheric Science at the University of Missouri/Columbia in 1994. Dr. Akyüz is an enthusiastic, influential, and admired instructor who seems to know everything related to the weather—known throughout the region for his outreach to area schools. Dr. Akyüz is a familiar and highly regarded expert in his field. He represents the U.S. in the World Meteorological Organization. He won several teaching awards, including the Blue Key Honor Society Distinguished Educator Award in 2021, the Robert Odney Excellence in Teaching Award in 2015, and the Earl & Dorothy Foster Excellence in Teaching Award in 2011. Currently, he is the State Climatologist and Professor of Climatological Practice at NDSU.
