This course is designed to support institutions in preparing for their Accreditation Engagement Review by providing training on the current Cognia Standards and protocols. Participants will gain a clear understanding of expectations and the accreditation Self-Assessment process to ensure a successful and meaningful review.

Syllabus, Objectives, and Outcomes

OBJECTIVES:

Participants will develop and demonstrate the following outcomes:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Cognia Accreditation Model as a framework for school improvement and accreditation
  • Navigate and utilize the Self-Assessment Workbook, Cognia Performance Standards, and the Self-Assessment process
  • Understand the logistical and procedural requirements for hosting an Accreditation Engagement Review

 TOPICAL OUTLINE:

The major components of the course will include the following topics:

•  Accreditation and Standards Overview:  Participants will receive a comprehensive overview of the Cognia Accreditation Engagement Review process and protocols. This section will provide foundational knowledge of the accreditation framework and expectations.

•  Required Analyses:  This component focuses on the three required analyses essential for accreditation: Student Performance Analysis, Stakeholder Feedback Analysis, and Learning Environment Observation Analysis. Each analysis provides valuable insight into different dimensions of school performance and contributes to informed, data-driven improvement planning.

•  Self-Assessment, Executive Summary, Key Characteristics, and Cognia Performance Standards: Participants will explore the structure and content of the Cognia Performance Standards and learn how to effectively complete the Accreditation Self-Assessment. This section includes guidance on using required diagnostic tools, preparing the Executive Summary and Key Characteristics, and understanding the timeline, expectations, and key deadlines throughout the accreditation process.
