Description
The State Historical Society of North Dakota’s 2026 Summer Teacher Institute, "Courts, Civics, & Citizens: North Dakota's Governing and Growth” is set for July 20-23 in Jamestown, North Dakota. To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the U.S., the workshop will investigate the making of a democratic republic at the state level. Notably this workshop will be hosted in part at the 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse State Historic Site, the only remaining ND building related to the activities of the 1880s statehood movement. We aim to educate teachers about the development of North Dakota's government and courts and the impact to its residents in both the past and present. The workshop will cover the 1880s to the 2010s and follow various themes through historic eras. This free workshop features lectures and hands-on opportunities to assist educators of students in grades 4-12.
