Description
This course is an opportunity to connect and learn with ND professionals to discuss basic principles of leadership, wellness, teambuilding, and positivity through reading and referencing a variety of educational texts. Leaders are readers! Educators don’t have time to read it all, but as a collective PLC educators learn the key points and takeaways from many educational texts as well as some implementation ideas from other leaders across the state.

You will understand:
- Impactful practices learned from educational text(s).
- Impactful practices learned from participating educators and additional texts.
- Networking and learning opportunities through zoom meetings with professionals around ND.
- Sharing and implementing the lessons presented in the texts.
Text:
Participants must self-select ANY TWO educational texts that would be benefit their personal wellness practices or classroom instructional practices. The two texts that educators select should be read exclusively for this credit only and not utilized to fulfill other reading requirements for other credits. Texts should be read prior to each meeting so as able to share out with the other participants.
Recommended texts may include but not limited to this list:
· Any Jon Gordon or Jon Wooden texts
· ADHA 2.0: New Science and Essential Strategies for Thriving with Distraction – From Childhood through Adulthood by Edward M. Hallowell M.D. & John J. Ratey M.D.
· What Happened to You?: Conversations on Trauma, Resilience, and Health by Oprah Winfrey and Bruce D. Perry
· Chop Wood Carry Water by Joshua Medcalf
· Call Sign Chaos by Jim Mattis - great leadership book if you like history
· Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win - by Jocko Willink
· The Happy Teacher Habits: 11 Habits of the Happiest, Most Effective Teachers on Earth by Michael Linsin
course requirements:
Each participant must:
· Read two different educational texts. Read One self-selected text completely before each meeting.
· Attend Zoom Meeting Sessions October 8th and 22nd from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m.
· Participants should have a list of at least 3 - 5 quotes or facts each week and be ready to reference them during the group discussion.
· Complete Google Form 1 prior to first meeting.
· Complete Google Form 2 prior to second meeting.
