Description
The U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) and the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) have prioritized reducing exclusionary discipline and supporting the implementation of evidence-based practices that focus on prevention, intervention, and behavioral strategies. During this session, participants will learn about the latest federal guidance documents (released in 2022) as well as how to apply these considerations during the evaluation and IEP process. Resources to support positive behavioral intervention will be shared.

- learn about what the Office of Special Education says about behaviors and special education.
- learn where to find resources on positive behavior supports.
- realize how to apply positive behavioral supports in the IEP process.
