Description

Teaching Civics in 2024 comes with both opportunities and challenges. As educators, we have the chance to empower students with the knowledge and skills needed to become informed and active citizens in a rapidly changing society. We face the challenge of navigating the complexities of modern communication, informational literacy, and a polarized political environment, which can both enhance and hinder deliberation.  Discover ways to connect with our founding principles and civic virtues to build community in our classrooms and learn to practice civil discourse to strengthen our communities.  This Summit will include a civil discourse workshop to help teachers create an environment that fosters student deliberation and will include a selection of sessions that allow participants to practice different classroom ready strategies using BRI curriculum to take back to their classrooms.
