Description

Candidates will perform 60 hours of field experience related to teaching English Learners. This course is meant to be taken towards the end of the ESL Endorsement coursework. The candidate will also plan and deliver two different lessons to English Learners.  View ESL Endorsement Field Experience Handbook for more details. 

Syllabus, Objectives, and Outcomes

Objectives:

Participants will:

  1. demonstrate knowledge of English Language structures, use, second-language acquisition, and development.
  2. apply knowledge of the impact of dynamic academic, personal, familial, cultural, social, and sociopolitical contexts on education and language acquisition of ELs as supported by research and theories.
  3. plan supportive environments for ELs, design and implement standards-based instruction using evidence based, EL-centered, interactive approaches.
  4. apply assessment principles to analyze and interpret multiple and varied assessments for ELs.
  5. demonstrate professionalism and leadership by collaborating with other educators, knowing policies and legislation and the rights of ELs, advocating for ELs and their families, and engaging in self-assessment and reflection.

Required Student Resources:

No required text however have access to a device and wi-fi to complete this course. We will be using Google Classroom as a learning platform.
