Description

The State Historical Society of North Dakota is offering a workshop for teachers that will focus on the history of trade and transportation in North Dakota. Learn about various trade and transportation methods used throughout North Dakota history and the direct tie between the two. The workshop will be August 13 and 14, 2024 at the Chateau de Morés Interpretive Center in Medora, ND. Learn from experts who have enveloped themselves in North Dakota history and education. The focus of the workshop will better equip teachers to deliver ND Studies curriculum as well as learn about opportunities available to them through the state’s historic sites and museums. Teachers will walk away with content and lessons in hand for the upcoming school year.

Syllabus, Objectives, and Outcomes

Objectives:

The participants will:

  • have increased knowledge and confidence to teach North Dakota Studies, specifically about the impacts that trade and transportation had on the early European settlement in the state.
  • have an increased knowledge of how trade and transportation impact and drive each other.

Required Materials:

Participants will be using the State Historical Society artifacts and primary sources, which will be provided by the instructor as well as the curriculum for North Dakota Studies which can be accessed online. (ndstudies.gov)
