Description

Welcome to the ND Envirothon and enjoy tours and hands-on training sessions in Bismarck, ND. Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of the ND Envirothon, a deeper knowledge of the 4-core disciplines (aquatics, forestry/prairie, soils, and wildlife), oral presentation skills, and lesson plans and experiments to help their teams prepare for competitions. This training session is perfect for current and new envirothon teachers.

Syllabus, Objectives, and Outcomes

Objectives:

  1. Gain valuable background knowledge on the ND Envirothon and the National Conservation Foundation (NCF) Envirothon Competition.
  2. Improve understanding of aquatics and study resources.
  3. Improve understanding of forestry, prairie, and study resources.
  4. Improve understanding of soils and study resources.
  5. Improve understanding of wildlife and study resources.
  6. Participate in a simulated competition trail test and oral presentation.
  7. Participants will develop lesson plans to host effective training sessions with their team.
  8. Learn how to incorporate environmental education topics in their classrooms through interactive and hands-on outdoor experiences.
  9. Students will use critical thinking and information processing skills in developing a journal and study materials to be incorporated in the classroom.
