Syllabus, Objectives, and Outcomes
OBJECTIVES:
You will:
- Understand the prevalence of trauma and impact of ACEs in the classroom.
- Become more aware of how your tone, demeanor, approach, behaviors, and presence affect how students perform in the classroom.
- Reflect on the power of relationships, the need for control, and complexity of the school setting.
- Understand how our beliefs can guide our practice and outcomes.
- Practice grace, praise, and self-care.
PURPOSE:
Allow you to gain more information and insight on the effect of trauma on learning and teaching. By understanding how trauma impacts students, and practicing a trauma informed approach, you can play a crucial role in mitigating both the short- and long-term effects of trauma; ultimately improving the child’s overall life trajectory and resiliency.
