Online, using Blackboard and Zoom – Asynchronous delivery with students progressing at their own pace per week with a weekly review meeting every Tuesday at 10 a.m. {June 6, 13, 20 & 27) via Zoom.

Description

This project builds on the experience of Professor Mahalingam in establishing an entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Department of Architecture at NDSU. The details of this initiative can be found at: Ganapathy Mahalingam: Software Development Pedagogy (ndsu.edu).  This effort is to create an online version of that educational program for broader accessibility by teachers in the K-12 system in North Dakota.

 

Syllabus, Objectives, and Outcomes

Objectives:

• For each student/educator, to create a prototype Android app using MIT’s AppInventor authoring system for accomplishing a particular task.
• To serve as a recruitment tool to recruit high school and transfer students to NDSU.

Textbook Required:

• App Inventor 2 by David Wolber, Hal Abelson, Ellen Spertus & Liz Looney (O’Reilly)
  

Technical Equipment & Resources Required:

1. Gmail account from Google.
2. Laptop or desktop connected to the Internet to access Zoom and Blackboard.
3. MIT App Inventor 2 Companion app installed on a smart phone.
4. Bluestacks software installed if using a Windows computer.
