Description
Project WET facilitators are trained and certified K-12 formal and non-formal educators that promote, organize, develop and conduct Project WET educational programs and opportunities. All attending individuals will be assigned an out-of-class Project WET will required to complete pre-workshop module. During classroom time participants will be introduced and trained through a variety of training techniques: 1) whole group sharing of all out-of-class Project WET Curriculum and Supplemental Guide activities including materials to complete the activity: 2) participant exploration and interaction for understanding Project WET multi-varied water topic curriculum guides; 3) interactive participation in the EnviroScape watershed model and Liquid Treasure Trunk demonstrations; 4) participation in one Project WET make and take activity; 5) small group assigned Project WET activity planning and teaching (incudes participating in other small group teaching) sessions; 6) active listening in planning credit workshops; 7) small group credit workshop planning and sharing to whole group; 8) active listening in Project WET programming; 9) small group Project WET program scenario planning and sharing to whole group; and 10) opportunity to learn Project WET programming through questioning techniques.
Syllabus, Objectives, and Outcomes
Objectives:
By the end of the course new certified Project WET facilitator should know, understand or be able to attain the Learning Objectives as reflected below and on the Grading Rubric.
- Promote, organize, develop and conduct Project WET presentations, workshops and other educational opportunities for K-12 formal and non-formal educators and K-12 students;
- Understand and methods for teaching Project WET educational programs;
- Understand Project WET curriculum and educational materials and how to teach and incorporate into classroom and other teaching situations;
- Understand the history, scope and premise of Project WET and its programs, resources and materials;
- Understand the Project WET facilitator system including responsibilities, benefits and awards; and
- Understand the importance of educating our youth about North Dakota’s water resource and their wise stewardship.
