Description
This course explores the principles and practices of disciplinary literacy and engages educators in considering effective ways to make content learning accessible to learners.
Syllabus, Objectives, and Outcomes
Learners will:
- describe basic writing processes as they relate to disciplinary literacy and research-based practices.
- explain how writing can be used to promote and assess disciplinary learning.
- explain how to apply the 7 principles of effective writing instruction in their classrooms.
- explain how to apply the writing process in ways that promote critical thinking and disciplinary learning.
- determine text structure and other text features appropriate for their discipline.
- apply writing to learn techniques appropriate for their discipline.
